A Nursery Rhyme to Remember Twitter Etiquette

by on Jul 26, 2015

As much as it sounds clichéd, sharing is really caring. Twitter is also about sharing and engaging, apart from posting links to oneself.

How often to tweet, why it is important to re-tweet valuable information from other users, why avoid net-speak, why follow back followers, how to credit the original author while sharing other’s tweets, etc., is all beautifully explained in the original articles at Mashable, Dummies, and Business Know How from which this post is inspired.

Here are 10 important Twitter etiquette rules infused into a parody of a famous nursery rhyme.

Ten Little Twitter Boys

Ten little Twitter boys were doing just fine;

One over-promoted himself, and then there were nine.

Nine little Twitter boys sat up very late;

One over-flooded news-feeds, and then there were eight.

Eight little Twitter boys tweeting in Devon;

One never ever engaged, and then there were seven.

Seven little Twitter boys had sales targets to reach;

One tweeted sales pitches, and then there were six.

Six little Twitter boys tweeting an event live;

#One #used #too #many #hashtags, and then there were five.

Five little Twitter boys trying to get more,

One never re-tweeted any followers, and then there were four.

Four little Twitter boys tweeting at the sea;

One plagiarized somebody’s tweet, and then there were three.

Three little Twitter boys were fairly new;

One didn’t care to follow back followers, and then there were two.

Two little Twitter boys tweeting in the sun;

One tweeted only links to himself, and then there was one.

One little Twitter boy tweeting all alone;

He used heavy net-speak, and then there were none.
